Lou and Ryan, Temple Island Meadows, Henley

Lou and Ryan married last September, 20 years to the very day that Lou and I first met at secondary school. Although we weren’t in the same tutor group, we were in the same friendship circles and spent most lunchtimes hanging around by the RE terrapins. I was so pleased to get an email from Lou saying that she was getting married and that we had been recommended to her. When we met up to have a catch up over a drink in the pub and talk all about the wedding, ( almost 14 years since leaving school) it was like no time had passed at all.

The day started a little bit grey and mirky, which was a stark contrast to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that met me at Lou’s parents house where she was getting ready. One of the bridesmaids (and Lou’s best friend) had made a 90’s playlist which was playing out in the kitchen amongst cries of ‘I remember this!’ whilst they got ready. Lou wore her Granny’s stunning vintage lace veil with her beautiful dress and travelled to Remenham Church in a campervan kitted out with bunting and champagne.

After the church service, it was a short walk (or tractor ride) to the reception at Temple Island Meadows. Guests were met with lawn games, deckchairs, an outdoor bar, wooden tables and chairs and even a cosy woodburner and sofas for the evening. Tin cans potted up with basil and glass jar tealight holders with lavender decorated the tables, as well as small posies made up of gypsophila and roses. I was amazed to find out that Lou and her mum had made the amazing wedding cake, which was beautifully decorated with fresh violas. There was a teepee with books and games for the kids, a quirky bar and beer barrel tables. It was clear every detail had been meticulously thought out and planned.

The speeches were touching and Lou’s dad’s slideshow of photos of Lou growing up played to the Beach Boys ‘God Only Knows’  had everyone welling up. There were also surprise messages for the happy couple from members of the England rugby team and Holly Willoughby. The evening was rounded off nicely by a beautiful sunset over the Thames and music from the band.

2015 – A look back

I am notoriously bad at blogging. In fact I don’t think I wrote any blog posts at all last year (something that has made my list of New Year’s resolutions this year!). Life is busy. We’re always rushing from one place to the next and with an ever-growing to-do list.

For us, last year was a whirlwind and it really did fly by in the blink of an eye. Lots of lovely weddings, a fair few PhotoBooths, getting involved with the RSPCA photographing their cats in need of homes, a new puppy, and we even managed to squeeze in a holiday! It felt like no sooner had we packed the Christmas decorations away, than we were thinking about getting them out again.

I remember my Grandad telling me when I was a little girl that time goes faster as you get older. And I do feel like this is true. How many times have you been talking to someone about something that happened ‘last year’ only to find that it was in fact, 4 years ago? Or seen photos that a friend has shared of their sons 6th birthday, when you’re sure he’s still only 3?!

I think this is why photographs are so very important. They capture a moment in time, in a place with people that, without that photo, is gone. Photographs enable us to go back to that moment and remember how we felt, what we said, the noises, the smells…everything. They let us be time-travellers.

I still honestly can’t believe that I am lucky enough to be able to say that this is my job! To help you remember some of the most precious moments of your life and the people who were there to share them with you.

So with that said, here are some of our favourite moments we’ve been lucky enough to photograph in 2015. Thank you so much to all of our wonderful couples for trusting us, making us laugh and most of all, sharing your day with us. We are so very grateful that we got to know each and every one of you.

Happy New Year everyone!

…and if I don’t keep up with my blogging resolution, please give me a gentle nudge 😉

2014: A look back

So, that was 2014!? Where did the time go? We’ve shot some great weddings and events this year and have travelled a fair few miles doing it! We’ve seen white dresses, pink dresses, grooms in black suits, grooms in blue suits, personalised wedding M&Ms, sparkler exits, pirate ship cakes, a run-down barn transformed into the […]

Mel & Ian’s Beach Wedding in Bournemouth

What a gorgeous couple! Mel and Ian had the ideal beach setting in Bournemouth for their beach style wedding; Ian even wore his flip flops!
