This is part of my Marlow Lockdown Life Project.

Friday 8th May 2020 marked the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. Despite the lockdown, Marlow residents were keen to mark the occasion by bringing out their best china and getting busy in their kitchens to make an English afternoon tea Mary Berry would be proud of.

Chairs and tables were placed at the end of driveways and in front gardens so that roads could come together for socially distanced street parties. Hedges and windows were decorated with Union Jack bunting and flags, 1940s music played out and a few had even dressed up. Some people had barely seen anyone since lockdown started back in March, so this was a much welcomed excuse to pack up their troubles and have some fun!

Everyone was very careful to maintain social distancing but still soaked up the party atmosphere and beautiful sunshine.

The wonderful community spirit was there for all to see.
